A Whole-Home Window Treatment Collaboration

This Fripp Island new construction project brought together Dana Bacher Design and Savannah Window Fashions to create custom window treatment solutions throughout the home.

From woven wood shades and Roman shades to drapery panels and café curtains, every treatment was selected to support the home’s architecture, coastal setting, and the way the homeowners would live in the space.

What made this project especially successful was the level of collaboration from the beginning. By involving our team early in the process, window treatment decisions could be coordinated alongside furniture selections, wallcoverings, finishes, and architectural details, resulting in a home where every element feels connected.

Design Considerations

While each room in the home required a unique solution, several priorities guided the project from start to finish.

This project included multiple treatment styles, including woven wood shades, Roman shades, café curtains, and custom drapery.

The goal was not to repeat the same treatment throughout the house, but to create continuity through materials, scale, and color while allowing each room to function as needed.

Privacy, light control, views, and everyday usability all played an important role in treatment selection.

In some spaces, woven wood shades provided the ideal balance of texture and functionality. In others, layered Roman shades and drapery panels offered additional flexibility and softness.

Operating systems were also carefully considered to ensure each treatment was as practical as it was beautiful. In the dining room, the custom built-in banquette sits directly beneath the windows, making manual shade operation inconvenient.

Five motorized fabric Roman shades allow the homeowners to easily adjust light and privacy without reaching over the seating, creating a solution that is both functional and seamless.

Natural light and outdoor views are an important part of the Fripp Island lifestyle. Treatments needed to provide privacy and light control while maintaining a connection to the surrounding landscape.

Our Approach

The Finished Result

The completed home reflects the value of thoughtful planning and collaboration.

Each room functions differently, yet every treatment feels connected to the overall design of the home. Texture, pattern, privacy, light control, and usability were all carefully considered, creating spaces that feel both beautiful and comfortable to live in.

Most importantly, the homeowners can simply enjoy their Fripp Island retreat knowing every detail has been thoughtfully considered.

Why It Matters

Window treatments touch more aspects of a project than many people realize.

When discussions begin early, decisions regarding operation, mounting conditions, stack space, privacy, and light control can be addressed before they become challenges.

Projects like this demonstrate how collaboration between designers and window treatment professionals creates a smoother process and a more successful result.
