My Favorite Woven Wood Shades: Why I love Them & Recommend Them

collaboration with the talented laura lee

My go-to vendor for woven wood shades might surprise you! There are a lot of shade vendors out there, but because my clients and their projects demand high-quality, beauty, and a large variety of options and features, I almost always recommend Hartmann & Forbes.

Woven wood shades are traditionally made with natural materials, and the materials used by artisans at Hartmann & Forbes are sustainably and ethically grown.

Here are the top reasons why I love Hartmann & Forbes, and you will too!

Handwoven to Size

Hartmann & Forbes offers beautiful woven-to-size shades, which provides a more polished and elegant look when compared to shades that are cut to size.

The loom-finished edge is a trademark of the handwoven shades, a meticulous technique that provides a seamless finish. Thoroughly measured, handwoven shades provide optimal light control and privacy in any space.

Customization

The design combinations for luxury woven wood shades is genuinely endless. There are nine window shades, including traditional Roman style or angle window treatments. We can specify these style’s color, trim, and lining – they can also be motorized!

The wide variety of customization is perfect because, as we know, each space has a different set of needs. Customizing your space’s shades allows your window coverings to perform exactly as needed.

Sourcing quality products and companies when transforming your space is vital. We collaborate with our account reps at Hartmann&Forbes to create one-of-a-kind shade designs that elevate the look and feel of our client’s homes.

These high-quality, hand-woven shades can translate into many different design aesthetics, making these products an investment our client’s will enjoy for many years to come.

Motorization & Automation Support

We recently installed an amazing project for the talented Laura Lee. We collaborated with Laura to select, order, and install 43 Hartmann & Forbes woven wood shades and roller shades - all motorized!

Each of the shades was the perfect color, texture, and length for the space. One of this collaboration's unique features is that all window shades were motorized, adding a modern feature to the otherwise traditional woven wood shade.

Motorization projects are very complicated, with tons of details and specs to verify and coordinate to ensure the correct motors and operating systems are ordered, and then on install day it’s another very large and time-consuming task to program the automations. And when you are talking about an install with 43 motorized shades and accompanying components, it becomes a project of epic proportions!

Hartmann & Forbes made everything so much easier and more streamlined for us, and the clients. We have a dedicated sales specialist that we work with, and they knew all the right questions to ask when we were placing our order to make sure we had everything we needed. They also preprogrammed all the automations to our client’s needs - an incredible service that made installation day a breeze, and ensured our client’s shades operated exactly how they wanted them to.

Laura Lee and I were incredibly pleased with the final look - and so was the client.

Hartmann & Forbes checks all the boxes: beauty, customization, and quality. And no, you haven’t overlooked them when you’ve shopping for shades - they are only available to the trade.

Lucky for our clients, we have a Hartmann & Forbes Design Professional account, and we handle all the aspects of designing, ordering, receiving, and professional installation. And let me assure you, when it comes to measuring for and installing woven wood shades - having a professional there to provide support matters!

If you are interested in adding the luxury and beauty of woven wood shades to your home, let’s talk soon! I just received some new samples for their designer collab lines and I’d love to share them with you.
